Jeremy Roberts Playing ‘Cop’
Actor Jeremy Roberts played a brief role in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. In one of the first films that he made, Roberts played a cop in the Hollywood hit. You can see him on the screen when Mrs. Shirley brings the police back to Clark and Ellen Griswold’s home. Talk about having a fun start to a movie career!
Because of Jeremy’s appearance and his involvement with the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant during the Vietnam War, he was frequently cast in tough looking roles. At the start of his career, he was playing characters such as a thief, kidnapper, and in the case of Christmas Vacation, Roberts was playing a cop. Jeremy Roberts was also cast as a cop on the still-running daytime television soap, Days of Our Lives. Roberts was in a couple of episodes.

Supportive Husband and Regular Guy
Jeremy Roberts hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2000, but he did make his name in plenty of popular TV shows and movies. Roberts didn’t just star in Christmas Vacation, but he was also a bouncer in The Mask. Jeremy also appeared on TV shows such as Sunset Beach, Renegade, Days of our Lives, The Practice, and most recently played a thug in Lie to Me.
Jeremy has been an active family man since he’s retired from acting. His wife is a professional figure skater, and he is a supportive husband towards his wife and her professional figure skating career. Roberts occasionally pops into the spotlight when he appears at conventions and fan events that are mostly for his Star Trek role. Ironically, Jeremy’s mother-in-law was an actress called Haji. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Haji was a cult film superstar. It only fits that Jeremy starred in a cult film such as Christmas Vacation.

Keith MacKechnie as the ‘Delivery Boy’
No one could forget the scene in Christmas Vacation where Clark found out that he wasn’t getting his normal Christmas bonus. Instead of getting a nice bonus paycheck, Clark Griswold had a delivery boy show up at his door to give him a membership to the Jelly of the Month Club. Who needs money when you have jelly? Keith MacKechnie played the delivery boy in that scene.
As you can probably expect, Keith was a new actor when he appeared in Christmas Vacation, and only had a few roles listed on his resume. It took Keith a couple of years to get a stable foothold in Hollywood where he played lawyers, cops, doctors, and more. Funnily enough, his starter roles were all quite similar. He even played a pizza delivery boy in Mr. Belvedere.

Where Are You Van Bommel?
After Keith appeared as the delivery boy in Christmas Vacation, he had other small roles in various films. In the late 1990’s, though, Keith landed roles on popular TV shows such as NYPD Blue, and Melrose Place. On top of that, he also appeared in multiple made-for-TV movies on HBO and Lifetime.
The majority of films that Keith stars in are ones made by Lee and Shane Stanley, and he’s always surnamed with Van Bommel. Both Lee and Shane Stanley have a close family friend with that last name, and they always use it in their films. Today, Keith is still acting. He is starring as Clayton Blake in a TV movie Christmas Getaway in 2017. MacKechnie has had a lot of success in his acting career, and you’re likely to see him in made-for-TV Lifetime or Hallmark movies. You can even see him in the Christmas ones.
Who played an object of Clark Griswold’s fantasies? Click ‘Next’ for the eye popping truth.
Nicolette Scorsese Plays ‘Mary.’
Clark Griswold is no stranger to gorgeous women, and the fantasies that he has about them. In other Vacation movies, his appreciation for beautiful women has been highlighted, and that didn’t change with Christmas Vacation. In other films, Christy Brinkley was commonly the object of Clark’s desires, but this time it’s Nicolette Scorsese. She plays Mary, a stunning saleswoman at the lingerie counter. Later, Clark even fantasizes about Mary as he’s thinking about the pool he wants to install for his family.
Nicolette Scorsese was already known in Hollywood. Her career started off in modeling during the eighties, and she even worked with Antonio Sabato, Jr. When the two started dating, Nicolette had access to other movie parts. She also had appearances in The A Team, and Charles In Charge.

The Future of Nicolette
In 1993, Nicolette Scorsese appeared in the film Boxing Helena where she once again played a sexy character. That was her first on-screen appearance since Christmas Vacation. Unfortunately for Nicolette, she seemed to get typecasted rather quickly, and the majority of her roles in the nineties were spent playing beautiful and sexy characters. She had a short stint on NYBD Blue, but she stuck to her typical type cast and played a “busty mermaid.”
NYPD Blue was Nicolette’s last acting gig, and she hasn’t appeared in anything new since. Given how much of a cult classic National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is, Nicolette still rides off of the notoriety coattails of the popular film. She focuses the majority of her attention on attending fan events, and other social events such as art gallery openings. Fans can purchase autographed photos of her on Amazon for around $20.

She was 40 years old at the time of filming.

She appeared in many popular television shows such as Coach, Cagney & Lacey, Designing Women, and L.A. Law, which is where she started to get noticed. She’s starred in NewsRadio, Home Improvement, Frasier, Ned and Stacey, and was even in multiple episodes of The Practice. On top of that, she also played Ingrid Mitchell on Days of Our Lives.
On top of the success that she’s already had, Natalija is still acting and can even be found in an episode of the popular Netflix Original Fuller House, and can also be seen in Glee and Criminal Minds. On top of acting, Nogulich is an accomplished author, and a celebrity tennis instructor, which is how she keeps herself in shape.

Brian Doyle-Murray Plays Frank Shirley
If you haven’t seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, this contains spoilers! As most know, the main plot of the film was based on whether Clark Griswold would get his Christmas bonus so he could put in a family pool. The decision, however, went back to his boss, Mr. Frank Shirley. None other than Brian Doyle-Murray played the role of Clark Griswold’s debatably greedy boss.
This wasn’t the first time that Frank Shirley went on vacation. You might even recognize him as the Kamp Komfort camp in National Lampoon’s Vacation. More than that, Brian Doyle-Murray is the brother of comedian Bill Murray, who is a household name in Hollywood. Brian doesn’t need to take a ride on Bill’s fame, though. He’s had plenty of success on his own, and Christmas Vacation was only a piece of it.
Click ‘Next’ to find out what he’s been up to since his Lampoon Vacation ended.
Talent Runs in the Family
Like his brother, Brian Doyle-Murray has a long history in film and television. Also like his brother, Brian worked on Saturday Night Live and was also on the National Lampoon Radio Hour like Bill was. Before Brian worked with Chevy Chase in National Lampoon, he met up with him in the Modern Problems film and has co-starred with him several times since then. They’ve been together in Caddyshack, Nothing but Trouble, and National Lampoon’s.
You might wonder why Brian Doyle-Murray doesn’t use Brian Murray, and it’s because when he started acting, there was already a Brian Murray! Brian decided to tack on his grandmother’s maiden name of Doyle, and the rest was history. These days, you can still find Brian Doyle-Murray acting. You can spot him in such things as Veep, Trip Tank, and soon enough a TV series titled Extra Innings. He was also the voice of the Atomic Dutchman in SpongeBob SquarePants from 1999-2017.

Mae Questel Plays Aunt Bethany
Many people at the time didn’t realize that they were watching a Hollywood legend when they saw Aunt Bethany in Christmas Vacation for the first time. Mae Questel played Clark’s aunt and has been said to be the character with the best lines in the movie. Her entire career had been built around making an impact on her audience, and to this day, she remains an integral part of Hollywood history.
Questel won a Helen Kane look-alike contest and was signed by an agent when she was 17, much to her parent’s dismay. They disliked it so much; they even included it in their last will and testament. Despite the lack of parental support, Mae began appearing in Vaudeville shows instead of attending college. A few years later and Mae was voicing the beloved and legendary Betty Boop, along with 150 other cartoon characters.
Was Christmas Vacation the final piece in Mae Questel’s acting career? Click ‘Next.’
A Hollywood Legend
Outside of Betty Boop, Mae Questel voiced many other cartoon characters including Olive Oyl from the popular Popeye series. What’s even more impressive is she didn’t just voice Olive Oyl, but she was the voice behind Sweet Pea, too. If you close your eyes and focus on the sound of Aunt Bethany’s voice, it makes sense why she was wanted for so many cartoon characters. Funnily enough, when the actor who voiced Popeye was deployed to World War II, Mae took his place.
Unfortunately, Mae’s appearance in Christmas Vacation was the last work she did before she passed away. She made the movie as memorable as her spirit, and what many people don’t know is that she had to be filmed from a certain angle. Mae’s arm had withered up, which caused it to be shorter and smaller than the other. The production and camera crew used specific angles to make it undetectable to the audience.

On top of performing, Hickey taught acting at the HB Studio in New York. Some of his famous students included Barbara Streisand, George Segal, and Sandy Dennis. Nicholas Guest’s genes meant that he was practically bred for success. His mother was a former vice president of casting at CBS, while his father was part of the British Royal Family and 4th Baron Haden-Guest. What a legacy to live up to! In addition to voicing multiple video games, Guest also appeared in blockbuster films such as Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Tangled. As of now, Nicholas puts the majority of his focus on voice acting, but that doesn’t mean he’s given up screen entirely. In 2016 he appeared on Madam Secretary, and in 2015 he was on Sleepy Hollow.

Johnny was cast as Clark and Ellen’s son when he was 14 but had been working in local Chicago theaters since he was 4. Galecki’s father was in the Air Force and stationed in Belgium, which is where he was born.
When Galecki was cast as Rusty Griswold, his family decided to move to Hollywood. After two years of being there, Johnny luckily met comedian and actress Roseanne Barr. Roseanne cast Galecki on her popular show Roseanne where he played the role of David Healey for five years.

The Public Eye Doesn’t Mean the Public Life
Johnny Galecki has spent the majority of his life in the public eye. From Christmas Vacation, to Roseanne, to The Big Bang Theory, he was cast in many other roles in between. Despite that, he’s always been extremely private. You never heard much about his personal or dating life, and Galecki likes to keep it that way.
The only tidbits of information that we get on Johnny Galecki’s life are mostly about his love for motorcycles. He proudly shares that he has a Harley Davidson of his own and that he likes to ride it around Los Angeles. Galecki has also said that he owns 360 acres of land in California, where he has vineyards and a ranch. Unfortunately, Johnny’s home was destroyed by California wildfires in summer of 2017.
