The year 2017 has come and gone, and you’ve nearly got the first month of 2018 under your belt. While the majority of you have made New Year’s resolutions and you’re working hard to keep them and forget anything negative from 2017, there are some things that you want to remember. Who doesn’t love a good gadget? As you continue to go on into 2018, you can remember some of the best tech toys from the year before. You might even be able to get them at a bargain. Keep reading.
When it comes to noise-canceling headphones, Bose has always been on top. However, in 2017, Sony introduced the new Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones that are likely to be your new best friend; especially when you’re sitting on a plane or in a crowded train station. They have a sturdy build, offer impressive sound, touch control, smart listening, and a voice assistant feature. They are listed as Amazon’s Choice and cost just under $350.
Lowepro Urbex 20L Backpack
With the number of electronics that you might carry around, the Lowepro backpack is critical for storing everything you need safely, and securely. Previously known for backpacks that cradle digital cameras, the new design has made it ideal for tablets and thinner laptops. There is a gear bag inside where you can store charging cables, batteries, and other accessories. As a bonus, you can access the pocket from the side, and it only cost $100. Keep in mind that there are more expensive variations.
Gaming systems have always been very popular and frequently make their way onto neat gadget lists. However, Nintendo took it to a different level when they introduced the Nintendo Switch in 2017. The impressive gaming device has almost sold more units in its first year than the Wii U has in its lifetime. With the Nintendo Switch, you can play games on your home television, and grab it on your way out to play on the road. The controllers are detachable so you can have a remote gaming experience, or a traditional one. The device cost $299 and is also an Amazon Choice.
If you love gimmicky tech toys (and who doesn’t?), this is going to be right up your alley. The DreamScreen made it on the list because of how cool it is, even though it’s a variation of the Philips Ambilux television. The DreamScreen is a backlight system that heightens your viewing experience. The lighting gives a theatre atmosphere while changing colors based on the pixels of the screen you’re watching it on. It has an app, works with all HDMI video sources like Apple TV and Chromecast, and it runs for about $240 for an HD Total Surround Lighting Kit.
Sony A7R III Camera
Sometimes purchasing a camera can be a headache. There are so many on the market; all of which get recognized for different things. When it comes to cameras released in 2017, Sony introduced the top-notch for rounded-shooter cameras. While the Panasonic GH-5 is also impressive, the A7R Mirrorless from Sony packs more punch.
The camera has a 42.2-megapixel sensor that works with a new autofocus system that Sony has designed. In comparison to other A7 cameras that Sony has released, the A7R has double the battery life. The only downfall with this camera? Be prepared to spend. It has a nearly five-star rating on Amazon, and just the base is going to cost upwards of $3200. Depending on the type of lens you’re looking to pair your new mirrorless camera up with, you could be spending $5800. That’s a lot of cash to spend on a camera, but as the saying goes; “you get what you pay for.”
Of course, there are plenty of other gadgets that make up lists of hundreds of the coolest ones in 2017. The ones above are the highest rated for the top five. The iPhone X, the Halo Carbon Board, Tiny Arcades, Google Pixelbook, and more are others that would make a list. 2017 was a great year for electronics, especially in the smartphone, laptop, tablet, and camera categories. If the rumors are true, 2018 is already building up to be one of the best years for the smartphone. In the meantime, you can always distract yourself with cool gadgets you never thought you needed until now.
